Technical Key Features

Wider Platform & File Support:  

  • Virtools 4.1 and 3D Life Player are now compatible with Microsoft Vista
  • Virtools SDK now moves to Visual Studio.net 2005
  • Virtools 4.1 supports 3D XML V4.

Improved Usability Enhancements to Reduce Production Time

1. New Building Blocks and Selections Sets

  • Selection Set: Behavior Building Blocks. They now not only work in authoring mode, but also in runtime mode as well as on the web.
  • Call Behavior BB: ability to instantiate a behavior graph that is introduced through a new “Call Behavior” building block. Using this new feature, developers will be able to considerably improve production workflow and delivery time.    
  • Wave Seek BB: modifies the current playing position of a Wave Sound.

2. Rich ergonomic and schematic improvements

  • New buttons in Schematic Toolbar:
    • Script Folder Tree: organize scripts in a tree in the Schematic View.
    • Show Active Only: enable the user to detect active scripts.
    • Show Colored Only: show selected colored scripts.
    • Shortcuts With Errors: to help debug cmos
  • New Schematic Preferences:
    • "Rollover List on Group":To open a window listing group items when the mouse hovers over a pLocal or pOut containing a group. Double click on a listed item to open up its setup; the right mouse button opens the contextual menu "Show in Level/3Dview/Hierarchy/Setup/Remove from group/Delete".

3. New Tutorials

  • Addition of new commented video tutorials helping the user to understand the different functionalities of the platform to significantly shorten Virtools 4.1 learning curve.

New VR Library and New VR Deployment Model (VR Pack 2.5)

New Packaging

  • Cluster applications, and especially VRNR, are now allowed to be used with the VR Library Standalone.
  • VR Publisher 3 Level offer has been simplified into a 2 level offer providing:
    • More functionalities in Level 1, now called “VR Publisher Classic”
    • Unlimited GPU and/or cluster host number through a merge of Level 2 and Lever 3 now called “VR Publisher Unlimited”
  • VR Publisher Classic is targeted to simple systems:
    • 1 single GPU
    • A maximum of 2 Viewports, each with a resolution up to Full HD

New AI Library

Integration of a new AI library 2.0, based on Kynogon technology.

  • Generate Pathfinding for 3D complex environment using High Level Tools specially geared for Games Developpers
  • Add Playable Characters in a few clicks to your prototype or game using autonomous agents thanks to AI Library 2.0
  • User friendly interface for pathdata data generation
