Virtools' Technology Highlighted at IEEE VR 2005

Paris, March 15, 2005 - Virtools™, the leading provider of authoring tools to create interactive 3D content for virtual reality, video games and marketing/multimedia applications, announces its attendance at IEEE VR 2005 in Bonn, Germany.

Virtools announced today its participation at IEEE VR, the world's annual cutting-edge gathering of the international VR community. This renowned show will provide Virtools with a truly unique opportunity to interact with leading experts in VR and closely-related fields such as augmented reality, mixed reality and 3D interaction.

Virtools will showcase its latest Virtools Software Suite products and client applications at its own booth. The application 18th Century Laval will be showcased on Virtools booth, running with an Orad's DVG-X PC cluster. Applications made with Virtools will also be on display at the booths of many prominent VR partners from around the world including Barco, Nvidia and Intersense.

Virtual Car Mock-up at the Intersense Booth
Virtools' highly interactive virtual mock-up of a Peugeot 807 car is one of several applications currently running at the PSA Design Center (Automotive Design Network in Velizy, France). The immersive environment consists of 11 genlocked and swaplocked PCs (HP workstations equipped with Orad DVG-X technology and Nvidia video cards). The PCs are connected to Barco's I-Space 5 with active stereo, an AR-Tracking optical system and an Intersense IS900 wand.

Virtual Walktrough at the Barco/Nvidia Booth
Visitors to the Barco/Nvidia booth will have a chance to see the application 18th Century Laval. Developed by the French studio Nautilus, the application is a faithful reconstruction of the French city of Laval as it stood in the 18th century. The project offers full immersion in a medieval world, with fluid and captivating panoramic movement. Visual realism is particularly effective thanks to the use of Virtools Dev's programmable vertex and pixel shaders, which are compatible with stereovision. Nautilus was lauded at Laval Virtual 2004 for their application, winning awards in the Architecture category as well as the Grand Jury Prize.
