February 11, 2000 - Cannes, France Virtools at the MILIA
Virtools Dev title Adibou Sciences wins Platinum Award based on its outstanding sales figures. Also, three Virtools-based games and edutainment titles unveiled, all due to be released the first and second quarter 2000.
During the second ECCSELL (European Computers and Consoles Software Edutainment and Leisure Leaders) Awards at MILIA, Adibou Sciences - the first title shipped using Virtools Dev - won the top prize (Platinum) for Havas Interactive in the edutainment category, ahead of Mattelās Barbie: Riding Club. This award honours the top-selling interactive edutainment software title for 1999 in eight countries - Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. Virtools SA sends a hearty congratulations to Havas Interactive for this outstanding honor.
Among other Virtools-based titles unveiled at MILIA, Havas Interactive is planning a new series of edutainment titles Katego, with a release date for the first four titles in the series on April, 15th. More will be announced on this later.
Next, Microļds featured Fort Boyard Millenium, a 2000 revamp of its successful Fort Boyard license, previously released in 2D. Fort Boyard Millenium is a third-person action/adventure game, in which you must solve action puzzles, going from room to room in the fort. Fort Boyard Millenium is developed using Virtools Dev, and its release is planned for late March. Look for a success story on www.virtools.com soon.
Also unveiled at MILIA is the action/adventure game ROME, developed by Montparnasse Multimedia with Virtools Dev. Combining pre-rendered backgrounds and real-time characters, ROME is Montparnasseās first entry in the games market, having already proven itself in the multimedia domain, and looks very promising. To save beautiful Aurelia, you play the role of Hercules, a brave Roman decurion, and enter into intrigues brewing at the very heart of the Republic. In power-hungry Rome, confront the dictator's murderers, unravel the conspiracy and find a mysterious document: Caesar's Will. Your quest will lead you through 16 different locations, meeting 40 different characters. Full coverage on ROME is coming soon on www.virtools.com. ROME is scheduled for release early March.
