Virtools and Ascension Technology initiated a technological partnership to ensure compatibility between each company's complementary product suites. Therefore, Virtools released new components for the Virtools VR Pack to provide full native support for all Ascension-Technology products. Virtools publishes software solutions used to create interactive 3D applications for simulation/virtual reality, as well as video games and marketing/multimedia. With the Virtools Software Suite, developers can pilot displays and peripherals needed to build immersive environments, bringing rich interactivity to virtual reality applications. With this partnership, Virtools will provide optimal support for peripherals that have made Ascension a longstanding leader in the VR field. Virtools developed new VR Pack Behavior Building Blocks, covering the entire Ascension Bird API and allowing Virtools users to drive any of the Bird compatible device: Laserbird, Motionstar, Nest of Birds, PCI bird, Flock of Birds, etc. "We have carefully covered every Bird API function," says David Nahon, Virtools VR and Simulation Solutions Manager. "That way, total control of every Ascension device is possible, allowing them to be used optimally." "Virtools support of Ascension devices is very close to our API. With the Virtools Dev Schematic, it is a child's game to drive our devices and use them to their fullest advantage," says Greg Erdmann, Ascension Technology Sales Manager. "We are very pleased to officially partner with Virtools". The new Bird Building Blocks are the first set of device-specific components that will be provided to Virtools VR Pack users - to complement the unified support of devices through Vrpn. In addition, any parameters that may change the behavior of a Bird API device (e.g. Filter values), or any status information (e.g. Number of devices) will be accessible in the Virtools Dev Schematic.
