Siggraph 2000 - Stand #2249

Virtools and RTIME announce development and marketing partnership.

Virtools and RTIME, Inc. today announced that they have begun integrating the RTIME Interactive Networking Engine™ with Virtools's family of products.

Virtools makes a powerful suite of products for creating interactive real-time 3D content, and RTIME is the leading provider of networking solutions for real-time, multiuser games and applications for the Internet and broadband networks.

Virtools produces a suite of interactive 3D development tools and is swiftly earning a strong reputation for itself. Virtools Creation allows users to create interactive applications through a building-block, object-oriented paradigm. The more elaborate Virtools Dev, with its open source model, enables high level programmers to create new building blocks that fit into the Virtools graphical interface. The two products are particularly suited to streamlined production, while allowing the flexibility necessary for creativity and innovation, particularly in the field of Web 3D.

"We believe that the ability for users to interact with each other is a critical building block to the internet experience, and the future of Web 3D. The collaboration with RTIME will allow us to offer Virtools's easy, quick access to this important component of rich interactivity" Bertrand Duplat, Virtools's CEO.

The RTIME Interactive Networking Engine™ is a runtime and delivery platform that enables real-time, multi-user interaction over the Internet and broadband networks. The product is packaged into four components :
RTIME Communications Engine, a high performance, highly scalable client/server networking solution that provides real-time communications between users located anywhere in the world,
RTIME Broadband Engine, which enables multi-user applications to transparently scale from 28K modems through to high speed, broadband access, with immediate realization of the benefits of connectivity upgrades by each end-user,
RTIME Multimedia Engine, for bi-directional streaming of voice, music, video, graphics and advertisements to enable a richer interactive experience, and
RTIME Cluster Engine, for massively multi-user environments supporting several thousands of participants interacting in the same shared environment.
