Konami Chess Game Wins Award

Virtools in Education: Virtools in McKinley Technology High School
McKinley Technology High School, a magnet school in Washington DC, USA, is currently using Virtools in its Interactive Media class. Virtools enables its teachers to give students an introduction to game prototyping by giving them hands-on practice in creating simple interactive rooms. "Virtools has allowed us to develop the top 3D game and simulation prototyping curriculum among public high schools in the United States" says Jeff Kelsey, Interactive Media Teacher, Motion Capture Technician at McKinley Technology High School. For their final exam, students must create a fully interactive version of the room where they are taking their test! "We want our students to not only be consumers of simulation technology, but designers of simulation technology -- where they are determining the structure of the story that is being told." Developed using Virtools by Streko Graphics and edited by The Adventure Company (Dreamcatcher), "Aura 2" has just been released in Europe and is the anticipated sequel to "Aura: Fate of the Ages". This first-person point-and-click adventure takes you to a strange, dark and unwelcoming world. You will have to fight to save the Sacred Rings that grant the holder unlimited power and immortality from a rival clan who wants them for their own evil purpose...

AOL's "Firechild Multiplayer : Tournament of the Ancients" Online Game Developed by Sarbakan
"Firechild Multiplayer : Tournament of the Ancients", developed by Sarbakan with Virtools, is a 3-D First-Person action Game, free to download and play on AOL's teen site. This multiplayer online game enables up to eight players from two different clans to take part simultaneously in real-time, shooter-type action. Each clan has access to four different character classes with distinctive skill sets and weapons, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. "FireChild: Tournament of the Ancients" can support up to 800 simultaneous players, with a maximum of 8 players per game.
