Challenge: Create a Stimulating Interactive 3D E-Learning Experiment

As part of its www.skoool.com e-learning website, Intel needed to transform a textbook chemistry lesson into an interactive 3D discovery of atomic structures. In record time and with minimal production resources, Virtools had to come up with a stimulating yet intuitive environment for experimentation. Various manipulations lead students from one learning module to another to cover atom construction, multiple 3D visualizations, combinations of different elements and tests of attractive forces. The experiments share one seamless 3D environment and build on one another to provide well-rounded, intuitive knowledge acquisition. This dynamic interactive lesson serves as an e-learning benchmark and shows what e-learning should be: a fun, practical user experience that is combines simplicity of use with mastery of educational principles.



Solution: Fast, Seamless Production Cycle:

Virtools Dev 2.0 not only enabled us to finish the project in a record time of one month, but also prompted us to forge new grounds in 3D design for e-learning applications. Hands-on activities usually reserved for the classroom became possible, and the innovative behavioral features of Virtools Dev 2.0 let us bring flat diagrams to life to make learning fun. Students can manipulate objects, right down to individual atoms, and information and diagrams that are otherwise difficult to understand in 2D are clearly viewed in stunning 3D.
