VIRTOOLS Selected a Winner of the Prestigious 7th Annual IST
Prize
Dusseldorf, Germany - September 30, 2001 - Virtools, market
leader in the world of interactive 3D development solutions, was
selected one of 20 winners in this year's IST Prize by the Euro-CASE
and the Information Society Technologies Program of the European
Commission.
Chosen out of 294 entries from 26 different countries, Virtools
and it's groundbreaking technology, Virtools Dev 2.0, win
€5,000 in initial prize money and will be presented at the
European Information Society Technologies Conference (IST 2001).
Virtools is also nominated for the IST Grand Prize to be announced
December 3rd. An Executive Jury, composed of independent, highly
respected European personalities, will select the three Grand Prize
Winners from the list of 20 Winners. Each Grand Prize Winner will
receive € 200,000 and the European IST Prize Trophy. The Awards
Ceremony will take place during the annual Information Society Technologies
Conference (IST 2001).
Now in its seventh year, the European IST Prize is an award for
groundbreaking products that represent the best of European innovation
in information technology. It provides public recognition and a
highly visible profile to entrepreneurial teams that excel in generating
novel ideas and R&D and converting them into marketable products.
The high standards of applicants and the competitive screening procedure
for selecting the winners make this prize the most distinguished
for new Information Technology driven products.

The aim of the award is to promote and reward excellence in the
technologies of the information society and to stimulate entrepreneurship,
innovation, and competitiveness in industry. The award is distinguished
for its excellence, clear objectivity and immediate relevance to
business and society. This distinction gives the clearest mark of
recognition to the Winners, a recognition which has shown itself
to provide a blue-chip reference for all stakeholders, whether upstream

The European IST Prize is organised by the European Council of Applied
Sciences and Engineering (Euro-CASE), with the sponsorship and support
of the Information Society Technologies Programme of the European
Commission.
